This assignment will help you to locate and be aware of specific types of journal articles as well as the level of evidence an article holds and provides to those that use it.
Level of Evidence:
A ranking system used to describe the strength of the results measured in a clinical trial or research study. The design of the study (such as a case report for an individual patient or a randomized double-blind controlled clinical trial) and the endpoints measured (such as a survival or quality of life) affect the strength of the evidence.
Accuracy of Information:
The quality of true, exact, and correct information. This can be determined by evaluating what is stable by what you know, looking at their sources of information, and determining their authority on the subject.
The limitation of information provided by the type of information desired. This can be done during your database searching by including keywords for the type of material you desire or using your limiters to select the material type.
Use the following databases to help you locate journals articles on your topic of interest.
Best bets are databases and journals Welder Library subscribes to or allows for open access. Please start your research using these resources. Other resources found are available through Welder Library or on the internet. However you are welcome to use our Interlibrary Loan service to request the article you are looking for.
