Physical Therapy

As part of your final paper, you will present your research at the annual School of Health Sciences Scholarship Colloquium. This is a professional presentation in which specific requirements of format, content, and time limitations must be met. Please follow the guidelines listed below. 

As part of your presentation, you must have prepared a well prepared PowerPoint slides. It must adhere to the following guidelines:

• No more than 7 text lines on each slide. 
• Text font should be at least 18 points or larger. 
• Each slide needs to have a title (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion). 
• Use upper and lowercase letters. 
• Use simple transitions between slides (e.g., fade in).
• Use dark colored backgrounds with lighter colored letters (e.g., purple-background with yellow letters or blue background with white letters).
• Use photographs to illustrate methods and setup of measurements and/or interventions. 
• Use tables with a maximum of 3 columns and 3 to 4 rows (if possible). 
• Use bar graphs to illustrate differences between groups over time. 
• Use pie charts to illustrate demographics or proportions. 
• Label the X and Y axes on all graphs. 

Your PowerPoint should include the following information: 

• Title Slide: Includes the project's title, authors, and institution information (e.g., the University of Mary Department of Physical Therapy).
• Introduction Slide: (2-3 slides): Includes background literature summary, Justification of the Study or Problem Statement, Purpose Statement, and Hypothesis. The purpose statement should have its own page. 
• Methods Slide: Includes research design, description, research participant (subject) description by group assignment. 
• Research Procedure Slides:  Includes the sequence of delivery of interventions and of outcome measures, specific descriptions of all measurements (photograph of positioning of research participant may apply). 
• Data Analysis: Includes the specific description of data reduction (e.g., the average of "X" measurements were taken as the measurement for each participant and specific statistical analysis procedures (e.g., reliability and the main statistical analysis).  
• Results: Includes the results of the reliability analysis of the dependent variables and the statistical analysis which addresses your research hypothesis. Present the dependent variable(s) as the mean +SD partitioned or grouped by each level of the independent variable. Use the 95% confidence interval for dependent variables when appropriate. 
• Clinical Implications
• Conclusions (and Discussion if time)
