Q: Why did the EBSCOhost User Interface (UI) Change?
A: EBSCO has redesigned its user experience to stay up to date with the ever-evolving demands of the research world. In addition to simply improving their existing features, they are introducing many new features such as personalized dashboards, new ways to save and share resources and much more. To learn more, visit EBSCO Connect or view this video walkthrough of the new interface.
Q: Do I Have to Make a "MyEBSCO" account?
A: No. "MyEBSCO" is an entirely optional feature, and not having an account will not affect your ability to research in any way. However, the new user experience includes many useful features that do require a MyEBSCO account, such as saving items to project-specific folders, setting up "search alerts" for new items added to the databases that match your search criteria, and more. To learn more, visit EBSCO Connect or view this video walkthrough of MyEBSCO and the Dashboard.
Q: How has searching for resources changed?
A: Overall, other than the look of the site, you should be able to search and filter the results in much the same way as before. What has changed is what has been added to improve the search functions, such as sticky filters, saved searches, etc.

Q: Is there a new Mobile App for EBSCO?
A: Yes! Take your research on the go with the EBSCO Mobile app, available for both Apple and Android users. This is particularly useful for reading eBooks that you find in the databases.
For more information about the Mobile App, see the tutorial on EBSCO Connect, or view this Video Walkthrough.

Q: How do Search and Journal Alerts work?
A: Search Alerts and Journal Alerts are some of the most useful new features to come from the new EBSCO user interface. There are many databases on EBSCOhost, and they are constantly updating as new materials are published and uploaded everyday. If you have found good search terms for a project, you can set up a "search alert," and EBSCO will send you a notice if any new materials that match those criteria are added! The same can be done for specific publications that you want to follow.
