Central Dakota Library Network Catalog

What is CDLN?

Central Dakota Library Network Catalog (CDLN) is a circulation program that allows students to find books from Welder Library, as well as surrounding libraries. If Welder Library does not have a book, students can order books from other CDLN libraries by "placing holds."

How to use:

To begin, register your MCard. On-campus users of Welder Library must register their MCard at the Circulation Desk (front desk). Users will create a 4 digit PIN. This will allow them to borrow books and media from Welder Library. Online students must use our Interlibrary Loan service (ILLIAD) to borrow materials from Welder Library.

Now, let's begin!

  • Search the collections of Welder Library by going to the Central Dakota Library Network.
  • Use the search box to find books or media relevant to your research.

  • Once you find something of interest, open the record by clicking on the title.
  • At the bottom of the record, it will state whether the item is available in Welder Library or a Central Dakota Library Network Library.

  • If the item is available, students can check it out in Welder Library. You will need to bring your Mcard. If the item is not located in Welder Library, but located at a Central Dakota Library Network library, on-campus students and faculty may request it by clicking on "Place Hold."
  • That will take you to a logon box where you will enter the 14 digit bar code number on the back of your Mcard. You will enter your PIN, as well.
  • Next, your book will be transported to Welder Library. You will receive a text message or email once the item is ready for pickup. Items will be held at the Circulation Desk.
