Library Instruction

Welder Library Staff offer three types of library instruction:

  • Library Orientation Presentations
  • Online Librarian
  • Collaboration Sessions
  • Library Tour

Any of these sessions may be requested online. See "Schedule a time" section.

Library Orientation Session

Library Orientation Sessions

This presentation provides an overview of library service include instruction on how to use our electronic resources, library catalog and how to do effective searches for research projects. The purpose of the orientation is to enable students to confidently use the services the library offers. Orientation presentation are 30-40 minutes in length with time for questions. We will visit our classroom to conduct the orientation presentation. Presentations are also available online for those classes not located on main campus or Bismarck locations. We believe it is best for the orientations sessions to be done early in the semester.

Online Librarian

Online librarian is a new service. You can have one of our friendly librarians embedded into your Canvas course. This is a great option for online and research course. The librarian is added to your course as a teaching assistant and is available to help students with research questions. The librarian assigned to the course will work with you to determine their level of involvement. Please send an email to Nicole Eckroth (neckroth@umary.edu) if you are interested in this service.
